Reinventing Life

When talking about product design in the past, it gave most people the feeling of luxury. In fact, a good design can pragmatically solve daily problems and even change the way of life. The 'Adventure Buddies' Modular Playground Chair, designed by Alvin Liu, Yoyo Tsang, Ariel Lai and Kally Cheng, is addressing a common issue of Hong Kong families.

Due to pandemic, community playgrounds are closed. Adventure Buddies, as both furniture and recreational facilities at home, is expected to enhance family interaction, “The set of composable chairs can form a ‘tunnel’ at the bottom for kids to go through, while the adults can sit on the top. Parents and children can together create their own amusement area,”, Alvin explains.

Care about the Needy

The team did not think of the recreational purpose until they drew out the schedule of the members of a friend's family, "Only at night, the seven adults and one child would be all present at home. We hope to enhance family interaction in such limited time and space,”, Yoyo recalls.

Moreover, Ariel also believes that every design should have its value behind, "This time it is the people with small living space. Their needs may be neglected in the society. I hope to arouse the public awareness through design,", said Ariel.
