Local culture is not only a product theme, but also a spirit reflected throughout the design process. "Sailing Under the Rock", created by the mechanical paper art brand Plain Paper Laboratory Limited, is featured with the iconic red sailboat and the Lion Rock. When the front handle is turned, the boat is pushed on the waves, symbolizing the spirit of perseverance of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Story, Made in Hong Kong
The product belongs to the "Hong Kong Voyage" series. One of the designers, Sylvia YIP, attributed the series to the historical fact that Hong Kong was a fishing village. The brand also insists on manufacturing in Hong Kong. "Since it about Hong Kong story, we keep everything in Hong Kong and let people know that popular souvenirs can be produced locally,” she explained.

The brand was founded during the pandemic, making finance, technology, and even purchasing materials such as paper difficult. The team just bit the bullet. “When mass production was impossible, we created more series and samples,” said Sylvia. She encouraged designers not to give up but to get prepared during hard times, so that once the timing comes, creative works can be finished, and Hong Kong design will get widely appreciated.」
