Hong Kong, 27 April 2026 – The Smart Design Global (SDG), formerly known as Hong Kong Smart Design Awards (HKSDA), an annual flagship event of Hong Kong's design scene organised by the Hong Kong Exporters' Association (HKEA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, has successfully concluded its final judging round, marking a new chapter for local creatives. Over 100 shortlisted works made an appearance at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair held concurrently by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), offering all finalists an invaluable opportunity for international exposure.

Spotlighting Originality: Opening Ceremony Sets the Stage
SDG introduced a brand-new on-site judging arrangement this year, with the final round taking place on 27 April 2026 at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair. The opening ceremony on the same morning was graced by Ms. Helena Chiu, Chairman of HKEA, Mr. Roy Ng, Vice Chairman of HKEA and Project Convenor of SDG and Mr. Will Li, Director of Exhibitions and Digital Business of HKTDC. The distinguished guests jointly officiated the opening of the four-day exhibition, highlighting a significant milestone that showcases the strength of local design talent on the international stage.

This year, a total of 121 outstanding entries have advanced to the final round, covering two groups: Corporate and Conceptual, and four categories: Live, Dine, Gift, and Play. These shortlisted works demonstrate exceptional creativity combined with compelling commercial potential, truly embodying SDG’s vision of “design with purpose.”

Honouring Diversity: Final On-Site Judging Across Multiple Categories
In the final round, the judging panel assessed the entries across five key dimensions: commercial viability, functionality, innovation, aesthetics, and on-site presentation. This new on-site judging approach breaks away from conventional formats by enabling participants to present their concepts in person. The face-to-face interaction allows judges to gain deeper insights into the creative vision and ingenuity behind every design.

Award winners will be selected for the four categories under the Corporate Group, as well as the Conceptual Group. This year's edition also introduces the Green Awards and Student Awards, to recognise outstanding achievements in sustainable design and emerging creative talent.

Industry Engagement Opens New Business Opportunities
To express gratitude for the visitors’ support, the SDG has collaborated with the past HKSDA winners to produce exclusive souvenirs. These gifts enable attendees to experience the creative vitality of Hong Kong design while taking home a thoughtful memento, further strengthening ongoing support for local design talent.
