The Yuan Chair is a set of chair that is inspired from traditional Chinese drum stool and the Chinese motif (天圓地方, 陰陽兩儀). The Yuan Chair comes in a set of 2 - Yin and Yang, one solid, one void, with a circular top morphs into a square body. Taking the drum stool’s simple form, the Yuan Chair was designed with a twist of modern parametric reinterpretation. The name Yuan(元) means money in Chinese. It also has the same pronunciation as Circle(圓) or Perfection(完) in Cantonese as well. The patterning on the chair resembles coins in oriental culture. It represents wealth and fortune which was a common motif in traditional Chinese furniture. The parametric coin pattern morphs and flow in such a way that it offers a new interpretation of the old porcelain one. The dynamic expression represents a flux of fusion between the past and present, traditional and innovation, Yin and Yang.

元椅是一套新中式家具設計椅子，其靈感源自中國傳統鼓凳和中國傳統建築概念「天圓地方、陰陽兩儀」。元椅為兩件套，一實一空，一陰一陽, 椅子頂部是圓形漸變到中間方形。元椅延續了傳統鼓凳的簡約造型，融入了現代參數化風格的設計。 「元」這個名字在中文裡的意思是「錢」。它也與粵語中的“圓”或完美的“完”發音相同。椅子上設計了類似中國古代的錢幣的圖案。它代表財富和財富，也是中國傳統家具中常見圖案。我們以參數化設計把錢幣圖案變形成為流動的圖案, 為傳統鼓凳提供了一種新的詮釋。新的設計代表了新與舊、傳統與創新、陰與陽之間的融合。
