UMA Network Ltd. is a global venture capital firm with a focus of investing in creative economies and headquarters in Hong Kong SAR, China. The UMA logo named The Pulse is stylized to represent a jolt of life or a disruption of the lifeless, depicting the way that the organization operates. The product was to be designed as a Memento (remember-me product), a high-end gift, with the initial aim to promote main values of the company, relating to where it is from and what it does, leaning heavily on the logo as the core communication tool. In the challenge to search for meaningful innovation opportunity, a set of chopsticks checked all the required boxes: it is as straight-lined object as can be, iconic, recognizable and culturally relevant, in use for millennia, locked firmly in East Asian culture and tradition. The waves of The Pulse are spread to form a triangle viewed from the front/back. However the chopstick may fall on the table the tip will remain at a distance from the surface, eliminating the need for the chopstick rest. Hence the name - Restless Chopsticks.
