Design is closely related to user experience, even when the target users are children. Marckids by Marcus & Marcus, a fashion brand for kids, designs products for children over three years old. Designer Irene TONG noticed that our next generation is becoming a generation of phubbers, so she designed a series of water activity equipment to encourage children to move around and explore nature by providing comfortable and safe equipment.
 

Design to get children moving
The headband swimming goggles offer comfort by replacing rubber straps by elastic fabric, complemented by a simple locking mechanism that allows children to easily adjust the tightness and achieve a perfect fit. Experience in the water is also her concern, so the products are not only anti-fog UV-protective, but also with large one-piece lenses that give children a broad view underwater.

Beyond functionality, the provision of choices in terms of look and style is also important. A wide variety of colors and patterns for the headbands, or even themes, were designed, which hopefully can make the children want to wear the goggles, “Children today have strong personal opinions. Of course, we have to let them freely choose the products they consume," Irene said.
